The N Mark for clay roofing tiles certifies compliance with applicable requirements and enables manufacturers to demonstrate compliance with prevailing regulatory requirements in Spain, such as the Technical Building Code
AENOR product certification for ceramic tiles facilitates on-site reception, which allows for reduced testing and verifications and thus facilitating the technical and documentary management on site.
The N Mark for ceramic tiles is accredited by the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC) and is registered in the register of the Technical Building Code (CTE) as an officially recognised quality standard, by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
The N Mark for baked clay tiles covers the products included in Standard UNE-EN 1304
As a compliance assessor, AENOR is a leading product certification entity. The AENOR N Mark now features on more than 100,000 certified products in more than 40 countries and is one of the world's five most popular quality marks.
The AENOR N Mark is a voluntary mark that enables companies to demonstrate that their product complies with certain features stipulated by a UNE, EN or ISO standard or technical specification. This display of conformity is based on rigorous monitoring of manufacturing processes and testing of end products carried out by AENOR, and enables holders of the N Mark to place their high-quality certified products on the market and to instil confidence in customers.
Royal Decree 314/2006, of 17 March, approving the Technical Building Code (CTE), is the regulatory framework that establishes the requirements that must be met by buildings in terms of basic safety and habitability aspects, established in Act 38/1999 of 5 November, on Building Standards (LOE).
The AENOR N Mark is recognised by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport as a standard of quality of the CTE. This recognition means that the Administration is sufficiently confident in the products certified under the AENOR N Mark considering that the use of these products in buildings contributes to compliance with the basic requirements set forth in legislation. For this reason, use of AENOR N Mark products benefits all agents involved in constructing a building.
This way, the AENOR N Mark can provide the following advantages:
The manufacturer
Business providers and monitoring agents
The end user
Certification of clay roofing tiles comprises two clearly differentiated stages. In the first phase, certification applicants must implement a documentation system based on ISO 9001. At the same time, they must control the products and measurement equipment as set out in the certification regulations.
Subsequently, AENOR's Technical Services visit the production facility in order to verify compliance with the requirements of the certification document. Samples of the models to be certified are taken and sent to one of the laboratories, accredited by ENAC, that collaborate with AENOR in the certification process.
After receiving the test results, AENOR, acting as Secretary of the Technical Building Committee, presents a confidential report of all the activities, which is then assessed by the Committee.
If the decision is satisfactory, AENOR will be recommended to grant the certificate. Alternatively, the applicant will be informed of the reasons for refusal and specific complementary activities that need to be carried out.
After issuance of the certificate, the company progresses to the certification monitoring phase. During this phase, AENOR's services make annual visits to the production facilities to confirm that the criteria and requirements established in the certification regulations are being applied and maintained. During the visit, samples of the certified models are taken on a rotational basis for testing in an accredited laboratory.
The Secretariat prepares an annual report on all the activities performed. This is submitted to the Committee, which uses the results obtained to decide whether to uphold the certificate or demand that extraordinary activities be performed.
Once the certification process has been concluded, organisations obtain:
