The AENOR N Mark for Structural Concrete certifies the product's conformity with the regulatory requirements laid out in the structural code approved by Royal Decree 470/2021 of 29 June, as well as with voluntary requirements defined by the specific technical conditions contained in the DCOR, which imply a superior level of quality.
The N Mark for Structural Concrete is an Officially Recognized Quality Label (DCOR) of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda.
This recognition facilitates the on-site reception of concrete with the AENOR Mark, which significantly reduces the number of required tests and applies more advantageous requirements, as well as simplifying the technical and documentation management of the project management. In terms of planning, structural savings are made by reducing the safety coefficient in calculations.
In addition, this certification scheme is accredited by the Spanish National Accreditation Body (ENAC) in accordance with UNE-EN-ISO/IEC 17065.
Ready-mixed concrete designated by properties of characteristic resistance between 20 and 100 N/mm2.
Certified concrete products must be included in the scope of application of the Structural Code.
As a compliance assessor, AENOR is a leading product certification entity. With over 100,000 certified items in over 40 countries, the AENOR N Mark is among the top five product quality marks in the world.
The AENOR N Mark is a voluntary mark that allows a company to demonstrate that its product meets certain provisions contained in regulations or in a UNE, EN or ISO standard, or in a technical specification. This demonstration of compliance during the manufacturing and testing of the final products, based on a rigorous control performed by AENOR, will allow licensees of the Mark to put their products on the market with a high standard of quality, instilling confidence in the users of these certified products.
The Structural Code approved by Royal Decree 470/2021 of 29 June lays out a series of technical specifications that products and execution processes must meet. While voluntary, these certified products can boast quality markings that guarantee their compliance with standards, regulatory provisions or individual regulations from issuing agencies.
The AENOR N Mark is recognized by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda as an Officially Recognized Quality Label (DCOR). Any product with the officially recognized logo is one with a level of guarantee higher than the minimum level required under the Structural Code. The logo implies having undergone a rigorous product control during its manufacture; external verification with testing performed in independent laboratories accredited by ENAC, in accordance with the standard EN ISO 17025; audits and inspections of its facilities, raw materials and quality system. The companies that issue these certificates are accredited by ENAC in accordance with the EN ISO 17065 standard, and are backed by the Public Administration that handles official recognition (Royal Decree 470/2021 approving the Structural Code).
This way, the AENOR N Mark can provide the following advantages:
The manufacturer
Planners and builders
Technical management and ownership
APPLICATION
The AENOR Mark is voluntary. Companies that want AENOR to certify their product must submit their application in accordance with the formats established by AENOR. This application must include information about the company and the characteristics of the products for which certification is sought. In the case of concrete products, the certification is requested by “families” or groups of different designations of concrete with equivalent dosages.
Once the documentation has been analysed by AENOR technicians, the conformity assessment activities are commenced to verified that the products comply with current regulations:
AUDIT
A visit is made to the production centre to carry out the following procedures:
COMPARISON TESTING FOR REFERENCE LABORATORIES:
The reference laboratory, accredited by ENAC, takes samples for consistency and compression resistance testing before the Mark is issued (5 samples/month for 2 months) and during follow-up (2 samples/month).
CONTINUOUS MONITORING OF THE PRODUCTION CONTROL
The manufacturer records the data obtained from all the production control tests in a software application authorised by AENOR. AENOR has continual access to this information of the manufacturer. It is extremely important that there is very little deviation in the production, which requires an exhaustive control of raw materials and all involved parameters.
The Technical Certification Committee (an independent body formed by all involved parties: manufacturers, management, users, testing agencies, and AENOR) analyses the reports of the activities carried out by the company (without knowing which company it is) and recommends AENOR either to grant the Mark or to request certain activities to be repeated by the company due to failing to meet the requirements.
The results are evaluated each year by the Technical Certification Committee which decides whether to maintain or remove the Mark.
Once an organisation passes the certification process, it obtains:
