CaixaBank becomes the first bank in the world to obtain AENOR software quality certification for its CaixaBankNow digital banking "app"

10 May 2022. CaixaBank has become the first bank in the world to obtain AENOR certification in accordance with international standard ISO/IEC 25010 on software quality for its CaixaBankNow digital banking application.

This recognition endorses the CaixaBankNow app as a service with the best quality standards and functionality for the different customer segments that use digital banking. AENOR certifies that the app provides correct results with the required level of accuracy and provides an appropriate set of functions for the specified tasks and objectives.

Some of the most valued aspects of the app are the information displayed on screen when a customer enters the application and uses their username to provide identification and the actions that are available from the main screen.

The CaixaBankNow evaluation and certification process began in 2020 and has involved the review of hundreds of thousands of lines of code in multiple programming languages and the completion and verification of hundreds of test cases and functional requirements. The recognition is valid for three years and extends to both the Android and iPhone versions of the app.

CaixaBank consolidates its leadership in digital banking

For CaixaBank, this recognition represents a step forward in its strategy to consolidate its leadership in digital banking and provide customers with the best service in all channels.

After the technology was implemented, the CaixaBankNow digital banking platform achieved record levels of use. According to Comscore data, in December 2021 the platform had a penetration rate of 42.5% and download levels that made it one of the top 20 most popular applications in Spain.

The AENOR certificate in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 25010 establishes the quality of the software product. To grant this certificate, AENOR assessed the functionality of the product, which is its capacity to comply with user requirements. The technical report needed to issue this certificate was prepared by AQCLab, which was the first laboratory accredited by the National Accreditation Body (ENAC) and ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) in the international arena to assess software product quality.

CaixaBankNow is the benchmark digital banking application for the bank's customers. Customers can use it to perform all types of financial transactions. It also provides information adapted to the customer's profile, including the option to use a virtual assistant based on artificial intelligence for all types of enquiries.

The platform also has services for direct contact with the CaixaBank personal manager assigned to the customer, with tools such as the "Wall," a channel that works like the Facebook message "wall," with full security in communications between customers and managers and the automatic filing of all documents.

CaixaBankNow also has the option to make video calls and sign transactions online, including those that are processed at branches. This means that customers can review contracts before signing them and execute them electronically, without having to go anywhere.

Technology and digitisation are key to the business model implemented by the bank, which has 11 million digital customers.

Thanks to its digital transformation strategy, CaixaBank is ranked among the world's most highly valued banks for the quality of its digital products and services and has received its highest ever national award from the three main international sector economic publications - Bank of the Year 2021 in Spain, from The Banker, Best Bank in Spain 2021 from Global Finance and Best Bank in Spain 2021 from Euromoney, in addition to the Best Bank Transformation in the World 2021.  

This year, the bank also received multiple digital banking and innovation awards, including the Most Innovative Bank in the World 2021 at the EFMA & Accenture awards. In private banking, CaixaBank was named the Best Private Banking institution in Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Analysis in Europe 2021 by the British magazine PWM (Financial Times Group) and the Most Innovative Private Banking Institution in Western Europe at the Global Finance Best Private Bank Awards 2022.
