Access to new markets

In order to help companies expand internationally through recognition of verified environmental information, AENOR has been reaching mutually recognised bilateral agreements with the main managers of European Programmes.

AENOR currently has agreements with respect to the following organisations:

EPD International AB (EIAB), Manager of the International EPD® System Programme - Sweden
Institut Bauen und Um welt e.V. (IBU)-Germany
ICMQ, Istituto di certificazione e marchio qualità per prodotti e servizi per le costruzioni , Manager of the EPD Italy Programme - Italy

The aim of AENOR's international activity in this field is to guarantee that verified environmental communication reinforces access by organisations to new markets and facilitates the marketing of their products.

International EPD System (Environdec)

EPD International ABIs the Administrator of the Programme International EPD® System (also known as Environdec), with headquarters in Sweden.

By virtue of the agreement executed in February 2015, environmental declarations verified by AENOR can be recognised by this Manager and included in the corresponding register; thereafter, a new home page will be created featuring the logo of both Programmes: International EPD System and GlobalEPD. It will also be possible to use the Manager's PCRs under the conditions established in the agreement. Likewise, environmental declarations verified by EPD International can be recognised by AENOR.

The following EPDs verified by the International EPD System Programme have been included in the GlobalEPD Register by mutual recognition (AENOR was not involved in the verification process):

Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU)

IBU (Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V.) is the Administrator of the German programme for the construction sector.

By virtue of the agreement executed in February 2015, environmental declarations verified by AENOR can be recognised by this Manager and included in the corresponding register; thereafter, a new home page will be created featuring the logo of both Programmes: IBU and GlobalEPD. Environmental Declarations verified by IBU can be recognised by AENOR.

EPD Italy (ICMQ)

ICMQ (Istituto di certificazione e marchio qualità per prodotti e servizi per le costruzioni) is the Administrator of the Programme EPD Italy, with its headquarters in Italy.

By virtue of the agreement executed in February 2015, environmental declarations verified by AENOR can be recognised by this Manager and included in the corresponding register; thereafter, a new home page will be created featuring the logo of both Programmes: EPD Italy and GlobalEPD. Likewise, Environmental Declarations verified by ICMBQ can be recognised by AENOR.

The following EPDs verified in the EPD Italy Programme have been included in the GlobalEPD Registry under the mutual recognition agreement (AENOR has not participated in the verification process):

Agreements under development

France

AENOR has signed two MoU (memorandums of understanding) with the French Programmes:

INIES, for environmental declarations in the construction materials and products sector
PEP ecopassport, for environmental statements in the electricity and air conditioning sector

The aim is to reach an agreement so that GlobalEPD Declarations can be entered in the French regulatory database.

AENOR is a founding member of the European Association ECO Platform and is authorised to issue Environmental Declarations with the ECO Platform EPD EN 15804 VERIFIED™
