SERCOBE and ASME to drive the industry's competitiveness

26/04/2019

The National Association of Equipment Manufacturers (SERCOBE) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) have set up the first International Working Group (IWG) in Spain, Section IX-, with the aim of stimulating competitiveness in the sector. This group's Technical Secretariat will be managed from SERCOBE by Flavia Rodriguez (sercobe@sercobe.es).

Thanks to the agreement, the Spanish pressure machinery and equipment industry will have a more active role in drawing up and reviewing standards that support the sector and, more specifically, in relation to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC).

For the CEO of SERCOBE, Juan Ramón Durán, this working group "is going to make the interests of Spanish industrial equipment manufacturers a key focus when drawing up and reviewing the standards that affect them. The aim with this International Working Group is to benefit not just our partners but the Spanish industry as a whole, since its development will contribute to improving security, quality and technology in a sector with a broad international projection".

In Spain, there are 85 industrial equipment manufacturers applying ASME guidelines and the aim is to establish more working groups to cover other sections of the code, which is recognised and used in over 100 countries across the globe in designing and manufacturing pressure vessels.
