22/05/2020

  • To grant this certification, AENOR has carried out an exhaustive analysis of all the protocols, procedures and measures implemented by the centres to reduce the risk to the maximum of contagion due to COVID-19 and be able to continue its activity offering healthcare services to all patients that require it, whether or not they are affected by coronavirus, in a protected context.

  • In addition to their management of the crisis during the weeks of greater intensity, which demonstrated the ability of these hospitals to anticipate, coordinate, adapt and react effectively and safely, the audit assessed the numerous measures applied in preparation for de-escalation.

22 May 2020. Quirón Salud has received the first certification AENOR of action protocols against COVID-19 for its centres: the Fundación Jiménez Díaz University Hospital, the Infanta Elena University Hospital, the Rey Juan Carlos University Hospital and the Hospital General Villalba. This distinctive mark, which recognises and accredits the work and commitment of the four hospitals, identifies and confirms them as spaces protected against the coronavirus pandemic, both for the staff and for the patients, aligning them with the most demanding standards. These centres become pioneers in this achievement at a national level in public healthcare.

To award this certification, AENOR has carried out an exhaustive analysis of all the protocols, procedures and measures implemented by the centres to reduce the risk to the maximum of contagion due to COVID-19 in terms of the physical environment, security measures, hygiene, social distancing techniques, organisation, monitoring of personnel and access control and physical condition of patients and relatives. This allows them to resume their healthcare activity by offering assistance to all patients who may need it, whether or not they are affected by coronavirus, in a safe context.

The certification developed by AENOR contrasts the protocols established by the organisations with a guide that it has developed based on the recommendations and requirements of different national and international documents, issued by bodies such as the Ministry of Health or the National Institute of Occupational Health and Safety. The guide is further enhanced by AENOR's in-depth knowledge of the reality of the sectors. Thousands of organisations from a wide range of sectors and of varying sizes have taken an interest in it, including the leading companies in their fields of activity.

Positive assessment of crisis management and preparation for de-escalation

Apart from their management of the crisis during the weeks of greater intensity, which demonstrated the ability of these hospitals to anticipate, coordinate, adapt and react effectively and safely, the audit assessed the numerous measures applied in preparation for de-escalation.

This started with intensive work to disinfect and recover all the healthcare spaces used in the pandemic; followed by the organisation of the coexistence of positive and negative COVID-19 patients with differentiated and separate healthcare circuits, protection and security measures and the availability of all the necessary protective equipment. Finally, these four hospitals have gradually been able to resume their programmable and delayable emergency healthcare activity.

This certification promotes confidence among all groups; A key aspect for the economic and social recovery of the effects of the coronavirus crisis. The facilities and services that are subject to AENOR's audit will have the security of applying suitable protocols and, on the other hand, will be able to demonstrate to customers, employees and the general public their commitment to preventing the spread of COVID-19.
