Valladolid West Healthcare Area receives the EFQM 500+ Seal

06/03/2019

  • Río Hortega University Hospital and 17 healthcare centres in the Valladolid West Area obtain the EFQM 500+ European Seal of Excellence, awarded by CEG (the Spanish Management Excellence Club) upon successfully passing an external assessment carried out in conjunction with AENOR. This is the only healthcare area of its complexity in Spain, servicing a population of over 250,000, which holds the seal.

  • This seal of excellence certifies both the excellence of the work carried out by the professionals in the Area to date, and also the capability to continue improving in the future. 6 March 2019.

6 March 2019. The Valladolid West Healthcare Area (ASVAO), comprising Rio Hortega University Hospital and the 17 healthcare centres in its catchment area, has obtained the EFQM 500+ European Seal of Excellence. This is the maximum level of recognition granted by the the Management Excellence Club.

This award is granted jointly by the Spanish Management Excellence Club (CEG), which is Spain's representative for the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) and by AENOR, which is the certification body that has carried out the external assessment together with the CEG. Its awarding means that the area now forms part of the small group of healthcare organisations considered excellent, both for their current work and for their possibilities of ongoing improvement.

In the Castilla y León region, the Soria Health Service Executive holds this distinction. In the country as a whole, according to the General Healthcare Act, the ASVAO is the only healthcare organisation of its complexity (servicing a population of over 250,000) which has obtained this recognition for the entire healthcare area; since there are other organisations of a similar size in the healthcare field, such as Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Madrid or Getafe University Hospital, which also hold the EFQM 500+ seal of excellence, but awarded only to the hospital and not the primary healthcare centres connected thereto.
