The energy audit verification in accordance with the standard EN 16247ensures, through a third party, that the energy audit has been carried out in compliance with requirements established in said standard, providing confidence in its results.
Energy audits performed in accordance with the technical requirements of this standard comply with the technical requirements of Article three of the recent Royal Decree 56/2016 on energy audits. If they are also performed by qualified personnel in accordance with the requirements of Article eight of the aforementioned Royal Decree, they act as a response to the requirements of said Royal Decree for large companies to perform mandatory energy audits every four years.
This standard is universally applicable and can be used for any organisation that wishes to demonstrate greater confidence in the results of its energy audits.
This standard acts as an initial review and a support mechanism that can be used at any time during the life of an Energetic Management System certified in accordance with ISO standard 50001:2011.
The verification of the energy audit by a third party allows clients to demonstrate that their energy audits meet certain specified requirements, creating confidence in the rigour of the results. This leads to better allocation of resources for optimising energy use and energy saving.
Energy audits performed in accordance with the technical requirements of this standard comply with the technical requirements of Article three of the recent Royal Decree 56/2016on energy audits in Spain. If these audits are also carried out by qualified experts, in accordance with the requirements set forth in article 8 of this Royal decree, they comply with the mandatory energy audit to be carried out every 4 years in large companies, laid down in this Royal Decree.
Certified organisations obtain an AENOR Energy Audit Verification certificate.
