AENOR has been appointed by the Gulf Cooperation Council Standardization Organization (GSO) to carry out the conformity assessment process as defined within the Technical Regulation for Low voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances (BD-142004-01). The regulation establishes the mandatory requirements for safety and electromagnetic compatibility for this type of equipment and appliances before being marketed in Gulf countries. Electrical equipment means all devices, electrical/electronic apparatuses and accessories containing electrical and/or electronic components designed to be used with low voltage.
The Gulf Mark (G Mark) aims to establish a single market, allowing the free movement of these products in the member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC). The countries included in the scheme are: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
It is a harmonized compliance scheme that facilitates the movement of low voltage equipment and devices to the GCC member countries by eliminating technical barriers and unifying customs requirements. This establishes a common market scheme that guarantees quality and safety for consumers.
The main benefits of the G Mark:
The applicant must submit certain technical documents, such as instruction manuals, safety electromagnetic compatibility tests carried out by authorized laboratories and risk analysis identifying chemical, physical, mechanical, electrical and radioactive aspects, among others, that could affect the equipment or apparatus.
After reviewing the technical file, if the process complies with the regulations, the certificate is issued and the G Mark is granted.
Once the entire certification process has been completed, products must bear the conformity mark, formed by the G Mark logo, the AENOR number as a notified body and a QR code, following the indications established in this document. This system allows consumers to access the technical information of the product available on the GSO website, which offers greater security for purchasers and users.
