The AENOR Specification (EA) explains the requirements that must be adopted to address Data Processing Centre (DPC) energy sustainability. The requirements indicated in this document are aligned with those established in the codes of conduct, good practices and European Directives indicated in the section of documentation and the bibliography, which affect the centres of data processes regarding energy and climate change management.
The purpose of this document is to demonstrate to interested parties that the facilities of DPCs certified in accordance with the requirements of EA 0044 comply with the provisions of this AENOR Specification as regards performing energy audits, implementing energy management systems and calculating carbon footprints so as to ensure that energy savings and efficiency measures minimise the carbon footprint and contribute to combating climate change responsibly.
At present, this method of certification takes into account the standards of the series ISO 50600:2016 to complete good sustainable practices in DPCs and the standards of the series UNE-EN 16247:2012 with regard to energy audit requirements applicable to DPCs.
This AENOR Specification is applicable to Data Processing Centres, irrespective of field and scope.
Energy management systems in accordance with UNE-EN ISO 50001 Energy management systems. Requirements with guidance for use (ISO 50001:2011), in fact, acquisition of a certificate in accordance with this standard is included in the certification of Sustainable Energy in DPCs.
