By obtaining the Remote Health Services certificate, Teladoc Health guarantees good service to patients receiving remote care

09/01/2025

AENOR has awarded Teladoc Health the first Telemedicine Quality certificate, the new standard that allows it to guarantee good service to patients receiving virtual or remote medical assistance. The certificate is based on Standard UNE 179011:2023 on Remote Health Services, which establishes the requirements and recommendations of private, public or mixed management entities, and thus ensure that they offer good service to patients.

This certification confirms that Teladoc Health complies with all quality and safety standards in the different types of non-face-to-face care and health services it provides to its patients, such as health promotion, disease prevention, health education, diagnostic guidance, clinical follow-up, care plans, treatments, medication reconciliation, rehabilitation or management of work incapacity.

Remote consultation has become an increasingly used tool among healthcare professionals and patients to facilitate access to healthcare, reduce waiting times and avoid unnecessary travel. The creation of this standard arose in response to the need to standardise the service to ensure efficient and safe healthcare provision, following the rapid diversification and expansion of this type of care during the pandemic. The Ministry of Health, Regional Health Departments, telemedicine companies, technology experts, professional associations and entities, coordinated by the UNE Committee on Quality and Safety in Healthcare Centres, participated in its development.
