The Superintendencia de Pensiones (SIPEN) [Pensions Regulator] of the Dominican Republic has received the certificate of Information Security Management System, according to the Standard ISO 27001. The acquisition of this certificate guarantees the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information systems, which will improve the Dominican Pension System's competitiveness and image.
Cybersecurity and the current technological risks and threats, such as viruses (malware), intrusion attacks and persistent threats (APT), computer fraud, ransomware, inadequate protection or any uncontrolled risk can result in significant losses and have a direct effect on service quality.
This certification represents an important milestone in the SIPEN's achievement of its strategic objectives and is a further step towards its commitment to information security, as the main objective of the ISO 27001 certificate is to restore the confidence of stakeholders (managers, users, customers, etc.) in information systems; to identify and minimise ICT risks in the organisation's IT business processes and/or services by applying the most appropriate security controls and procedures.
