New certification that focuses on soil as a key element in agricultural production

21/11/2023

AENOR has presented a new certification related to agriculture: "Regenerative Agriculture", in line with the Epigen Healthy Bite Model, which focuses on soil as a key element in agricultural production. Healthy soil is the basis for producing top quality food and regenerative agriculture is a production system that considers the regeneration of soils to maintain and increase their fertility. Regenerative Agriculture is a production system that improves soil fertility, restores soil health, reduces dependence on chemical inputs, and contributes to increasing the rate of carbon sequestration in the soil.

In the certification process, AENOR experts evaluate the continuous improvement in soils, which includes taking soil samples and measuring the carbon captured in the soil.

The Epigen Healthy Bite Model of Regenerative Agriculture is based on science and experience and has been tested in the cultivation and planting of cherries, table grapes, peaches, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, Canary Island bananas, tomatoes, red peppers, cucumbers and lettuce, among other products.
