Metro Bilbao recently received the Energy Efficiency Management Certificate, according to the Standard ISO 50001. It is the first Spanish rail company to receive this certificate from AENOR.
The certificate for Energy Efficiency Management from AENOR helps companies manage and reduce their consumption of energy and has a positive influence on cutting both associated financial costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Among other benefits, it enables companies to comply with prevailing energy efficiency legislation on an ongoing basis, helps energy managers perform their role and can be used to implement and monitor actions issued by energy audits. Similarly, it can help to reduce primary energy consumption, external dependence and energy intensity, fostering the use of renewable energy; in this way, it contributes to improving the competitiveness of organisations.
