MASMOVIL Group renews the Criminal Compliance and Anti-bribery certificates

23/05/2023

AENOR has granted the renewal of the Criminal Compliance, as per standard UNE 19601, and Anti-bribery Management System certificatecertificates, in accordance with ISO 37001, thus reaffirming its commitment to fostering a culture of prevention and compliance and to implementing appropriate measures to prevent and reduce the risks of crime within the organisation.

The Group has a Compliance Officer, with direct access to the Board of Directors, specifically designated to supervise and ensure the proper functioning of the criminal risk management system as a whole. It also has an Ethics Committee that supports the Compliance Officer in all activities that require it and participates and decides, together with the CO, on the procedures for investigating complaints received.

These certificates are the primary benchmark in Spain for designing and structuring criminal risk prevention systems, and are inspired by the highest international standards in this area. They also represent the best practices for management systems in terms of crime prevention, risk reduction, and promoting a law-abiding corporate culture.

As for standard UNE 19601, Organic Law 1/2015 for the reform of the Penal Code considers crime prevention models as possible factors of exoneration and mitigation of the criminal liability of a legal person, as long as they fulfil a series of requirements. This standard considers the provisions of Law 1/2015, with respect to the requirements of crime prevention models, and complements these requirements with the best international practices established under the scope of social responsibility, compliance and risk management.

The ISO 37001 standard on anti-bribery management systems offers organisations a model to prevent, detect and manage behaviour involving bribery and corruption in compliance with both national and international laws, and with other voluntary commitments.
