Iberdrola certifies its Sustainable Procurement Strategy

AENOR has presented Iberdrola with the first Sustainable Procurement Strategy certificate,in accordance with ISO standard 20400:2017. Receiving this certificate confirms Iberdrola's responsibility to ensure that the life cycle of each product or service has the greatest positive environmental, social and economic impact.

It certifies that Iberdrola has effectively added a vision of its supply chain focused on sustainability, favouring a "two-way" interaction with suppliers and the company's internal stakeholders in a continuous and transparent way thanks to implemented digital tools that facilitate the management of procurement processes, risk management and compliance with the company's governance guidelines.

The worldwide scope of this certification, which applies to all areas of activity of the company anywhere in the world, has led to Iberdrola procuring in 2021 10.827 billion euros (82.5% of the total awarded) from suppliers that exceeded the sustainability levels established by its sustainable procurement management system.

Rafael García Meiro, CEO of AENOR, presented the certificate to Asís Canales, Global Head of People and Services of the Iberdrola group, at an event held at the headquarters of the energy company in Bilbao.
