AENOR has awarded Patatas Hijolusa its certification in Sustainable Strategy (SDG) for its continued and improved sustainability, and for how its business strategy is contributing to the most relevant SDGs for its activity. As a result, it has become the first company in the washed, fresh potato and sweet potato cultivation, selection, packaging and marketing sector to receive this certification.
Patatas Hijolusa is constantly working to adapt its business model in order to reduce the impact of its activity on the environment and promote social development. The company is also orienting its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy toward the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as set out in its 2030 agenda.
It has also installed a solar plant on the roof of its factory to supply its own electricity, and managed to reduce its carbon footprint by reducing energy consumption and minimising CO2 emissions. It also avoids food waste by earmarking those potatoes that are not consumer grade, or that do not meet its own quality standards, to animal feed.
