Since its publication in 2011, the international standard ISO 50001 on Energy Management Systems has become the worldwide benchmark for the correct management of energy, with over 11,500 organisations certified in around one hundred countries.
As part of World Energy Efficiency Day, held on 5 March, AENOR highlights the economic benefits deriving from its certification.
Applying the standard ISO 50001 enables organisations to generate systematic savings of between 5 and 30% of the cost of energy, according to a recent balance sheet drawn up by ISO. It also helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The ISO 50001 Standard has a universal appeal and it is intended for any organisation, either public or private, regardless of the activity sector.
AENOR has contributed to placing Spain among the top positions and currently has more than 220 energy certificates in force across the globe.
