The “Declaration of Granada” was presented recently at the conference on "The contribution of materials to sustainable construction", organized by OFICEMEN, IECA, UNE and AENOR and held recently in Granada. This event highlighted the need to have a regulatory framework for sustainable construction materials in Spain.
Experts in this topic gathered at the Association of Architects of Granada, where they agreed that our country needs a regulatory procedure for sustainable construction materials that provides a streamlined process and is based on technical standards and regulations that promote its inclusion in public and private tenders. This is the only way that the climate neutrality goals can be met.
The conference, which was attended by the Granada City Council and the Spanish Concrete Technology Platform (PTEH), featured the mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo Villalonga; the Regional Minister of Public Works, Territorial Planning and Housing, Rocío Díaz Jiménez; the Vice-Rector for Infrastructure and Sustainability, Montserrat Zamorano Toro; the Dean-President of the Official College of Architects of Granada, Ismael Rodriguez Pedrosa; the Chairman of the Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, Alfredo Berges Valdecantos; the Chairman of the Spanish Association of Cement Manufacturers (Oficemen) and the Spanish Institute of Cement and its Applications (IECA), Alan Svaiter; and the CEO of AENOR, Rafael García Meiro, who delivered the closing remarks.
The event has brought together more than thirty senior officials and technical experts from local, regional, national and Community institutions, as speakers. In addition to the organizers, other parties participated as speakers, such as representatives of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the European Commission, CESCAE, CICPC, SEOPAN, ANCI, CEPCO, Tecniberia, CIES, APCE, ANFAH, ANEFHOP, ANEFA and ANDEC, as well as institutional representatives of various ministries, the Regional Government of Andalusia and local bodies adhered to the administration.
