TUSGSAL obtains the AENOR certification for its COVID-19 protocols

10/07/2020

  • AENOR has audited the health and safety conditions of the transport activities carried out, both for employees as well as users and suppliers and in the transport fleet.

10 July 2020. AENOR has certified urban transport operator TUSGSAL (Transportes Urbanos y Servicios Generales, SAL) for its protocols for combating COVID-19, thus guaranteeing that the passenger transport service offered by the company is completely trustworthy.

The AENOR certification is an external endorsement to support the effectiveness of safety measures implemented by the company and that it also complies with the guidelines established by the Ministry of Health on matters of COVID-19 prevention and hygiene. Once the mark has been granted it is valid for a year, but must be monitored every three months.

TUSGSAL has launched a plan of preventive health and safety measures for employees and customers. These include the installation of screens in the driver's space in all vehicles, the daily disinfection of the entire fleet and facilities, the delimitation of common spaces, the establishment of health safety measures or the requirement for suppliers to comply with protection and safety measures.

Carles Fàbregas, Chief Executive Officer of TUSGSAL, states that "as a social economy company, our absolute priority is people, both workers and users of the transport service, and we must ensure, more than ever, their health and safety. This certification from AENOR confirms that the measures we have put in place to combat COVID-19 make our public transport a safe mobility mode."

"We hope that this certification will boost the confidence of society as a whole and bring the activity back to the cities we serve; a key aspect for the economic and social recovery of the effects of the coronavirus crisis'" he added.

For his part, Rafael García Meiro, CEO of AENOR states that "TUSGSAL has demonstrated that its commitment to serve society is at the forefront of its considerations, consistent with its position. Their responsible and now certified protocols are boosting the confidence necessary for road passenger transport to quickly recover its important contribution to society and the economy".

The assessment carried out by AENOR assesses aspects such as risk management; occupational health and safety management; the training, information and communications developed; protocols put in place for different scenarios, organisational measures (turns, traceability of contacts, capacity controls, distances, protective separating screens), and protection (use of PPE), as well as good cleaning and hygiene practices, among other things.
