  • Schindler Iberia has been recognised in the 'First Verified Sustainability Report', in an act involving the company's CEO, Javier Catalina, and María Luisa Claver, the director of AENOR Aragon, the certification body that awarded the recognition.

4 September 2018. Schindler is a multinational which manufactures lifts and escalators and has been recognised in the 'First Verified Sustainability Report', in an act involving the company's CEO, Javier Catalina, and María Luisa Claver, the director of AENOR Aragon.

As such, Schindler has successfully passed the verification of its first sustainability report in accordance with the GRI Standards model with outstanding work in the vertical transportation sector. The work as shown in this document has been subject to an external, independent verification process carried out by AENOR. AENOR has noted the maturity of their sustainability systems strategy in which the Direction and other interested parties participated.

AENOR's verification of sustainability reports in accordance with GRI enables companies to communicate the results acquired through their commitments in a transparent way that is three-fold: environmental, economic and social.

Many professionals from various areas of the business such as Quality and Environment, Planning and Development, Human Resources, Technical Management, Purchasing, Accounting, Engineering, Risk Prevention, Technical Training and Administration, and more have contributed to the verification process.

In the words of María Luisa Claver, “AENOR's verification of Schindler's Sustainability Report in accordance with GRI demonstrates the commitment of the company to good sustainability practices. AENOR has verified 450 Sustainability Reports in accordance with GRI, making it a world-leading company in the field".

Javier Catalina added that "at Schindler we work every day on the creation of new systems and effective, sustainable solutions in order to build the cities of the future today. We stand out as leaders due to our vast experience and it is thanks to our team of professionals that we are able to consistently receive such important acts of recognition such as these".

Schindler is the world's leading manufacturer of escalators and the second largest manufacturer of lifts. The Swiss multinational is consistently at the cutting edge of mobility and of the construction of the cities of the future with vertical transportation systems installed in sustainable and eco-friendly buildings. Furthermore, it is the first company in the sector to obtain the EMAS registry and, only a few months ago, received the AENOR Environmental Management certificate coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the implementation of its environmental system.
