  • This mark accredits that the measures implemented by the company since the start of the health crisis are adapted to the requirements and recommendations established by the Ministry of Health.
  • AENOR guarantees the effectiveness of the anti-COVID-19 measures taken by Lidl in all its work centres in Spain: more than 600 stores, 10 logistics platforms and its central offices
  • Right from the onset of the health crisis, Lidl has allocated around €26 M to the implementation of multiple initiatives to offer secure business spaces and working environments to its customers and employees.

3 November 2020. AENOR has recognised Lidl's COVID-19 prevention protocols deployed in all its work centres throughout Spain. This external endorsement confirms that the various safety measures adopted by the company since the start of the health crisis are not only adapted to the recommendations, but also to the requirements established periodically by the Ministry of Health with regard to prevention and hygiene.

AENOR thus certifies the effectiveness of the anti-COVID-19 measures taken by Lidl to promote health and safety in its more than 600 stores, 10 logistics platforms and central offices in the country. As part of the certification process, AENOR assessed a wide range of aspects, including risk management and occupational health implemented by Lidl, including; the training, information and communication actions carried out; the organisational and protective measures put in place (control of capacity and soial distancing), use of PPE, etc., as well as good cleaning and hygiene practices.

"At Lidl we are more committed than ever to the health and safety of our customers and employees, a priority we strive for every day to continue generating confidence through our activity. In this regard, the AENOR certificate represents an important recognition of the efforts we have been making in recent months to continue offering safe shopping spaces and working environments and, at the same time, a demonstration of our desire for continuous improvement," says Gabriela Fabregat, Director of Central Services of Lidl Spain.

Nicolás Henríquez, Sales Director at AENOR, stated that "the health crisis represents a major challenge that requires the involvement of companies to generate peace of mind and safety more than ever. In this respect, an accreditation assessed by an independent and rigorous third party involves a serious and transversal approach such as the one carried out by Lidl. This endorsement translates into a message of credibility and transparency to the company's customers and staff thanks to its solvent and now certified protocols."

Right from the onset of the health crisis, Lidl has allocated around €26 M to the implementation of multiple initiatives with one fundamental obejective: to continue offering secure shopping spaces and working environments to its customers and employees, ensuring at all times the minimisation of contact between people and optimum hygiene and cleanliness conditions and individual protective measures.

In line with Lidl's commitment to health and safety at all its work centres in Spain, the supermarket chain has introduced several measures in recent months, such as shopper capacity control (including an automatic system in stores with the highest footfall), the installation of more than 6,500 protective screens at the tills, the use of signage and special posters to raise awareness on the importance of maintaining safety distances, the promotion of card payments, the delivery of protective face masks to its employees, and the distribution of hydroalcoholic hand gels in all its work centres (for the use of workers and customers), among many other measures still in force.
