Lantegi Batuak, a pioneer in its sector by obtaining the AENOR criminal compliance certification

06/07/2020

  • The organisation has had its own Ethical Code since 2017 and has published its transparency report annually since 2015.
  • The certification fosters best practices to prevent crime, reduce risk, and promote an ethical, law-abiding business culture.

6 June 2020. AENOR has presented to Lantegi Batuak of the certification for Criminal Compliance Management Systems, in accordance with the UNE standard 19601:2017. This recognition, a pioneer among special employment centres certifies that Lantegi Batuak complies with the standard and guarantees the safety and confidence in the organisation's management before the public authorities, customers, people and families, among other groups of interest.

The certificate endorses the correct implementation by Lantegi Batuak of measures that improve management, helping to reduce the risk of criminality and providing a more solid guarantee of security and confidence to government bodies, shareholders and investors, among other interest groups.

At the certificate awarding ceremony, Susana Gorbeña, chair of Lantegi Batuak, wished to " thank and recognise the efforts of all the people involved in implementing this management system that makes us a better organisation." For her part, Luz Emparanza, director of AENOR in the Basque Country, indicated that "Lantegi Batuak is a company of reference in generating incusive solutions in both industrial environments as well as in its management practices since achieveing its first international certification in 1995. Since then it has increased its commitments and has just taken an important step by achieving the Criminal Compliance certification, which directly draws on important values for today's society. Criminal Compliance expresses the organisation's willingness to align itself with Good Governance, promoting best practices to prevent crime, reduce risk, and promote an ethical, law-abiding business culture."

External certification audits of criminal offence prevention models performed by a renowned independent expert such as AENOR are one of the most reliable, effective and transparent ways to respond to these requirements and prove that an organisation and its leaders are explicitly and publicly committed to a culture of compliance.

Obtaining this certificate is another stage in Lantegi Batuak's permanent commitment to ethical and responsible management, a commitment it has been building on in May 2017 with the constitution of its own Ethical Code and Rules of Conduct, and since 2015 when it started to annually publish its transparency report.

Lantegi Batuak's Ethical Code recognises 50 standards and principles of mandatory compliance that guide the actions of all people that make up the organisation. The preparation of the Ethical Code counted on the supoort of experts on ethics from the University of Deusto.

To guarantee its correct implementation and dissemination among all the staff of Lantegi Batuak, an Easy-To-Read method and other training tools were used in which almost 2,000 participated, for example in the development of an online game inspired by Trivial Persuit. These creative and innovative solutions were recognised as best practices by the Global Compact.
