Indra, the first Ibex 35 company to certify its ISO 31000 risk management system with AENOR

15/06/2020

  • The certification accredits that Indra's Risk Control and Management System complies with the principles and best practices in this area, is effectively implemented and integrated throughout the organisation and includes all the processes that ensure the optimal management of any external or internal risk factor.
  • Indra is recognised for its commitment to continuous improvement and its effort to adopt best corporate governance practices with this certification, which is based on the ISO 31000 standard, the best practices standard for dealing with any external or internal risk factors in an organisation.

15 June 2020. Indra, one of the world's leading technology and consultancy companies, has become the first Ibex 35 company to obtain the AENORRisk Management certification, in accordance with the ISO 31000 standard.

This certification accredits that Indra's Risk Control and Management System complies with the principles and best practices in this area, is effectively implemented and integrated throughout the organisation and includes all the processes that ensure the optimal management of any external or internal risk factor. The certification covers Minsait (a subsidiary of Indra Information Technologies) and all companies that are largely owned by the company.

The AENOR certificate focuses on the management of corporate risks, including the management of financial and non-financial risks or those related to sustainability. Indra is thus in a position of advantage in identifying and addressing the challenges that arise in an increasingly competitive, changing and global environment, where new threats arise every day, but also new opportunities.

Obtaining this certification represents a recognition of Indra's commitment to continuous improvement and its effort to adopt best practices in corporate governance and, specifically, to identify and manage the risks to which it is exposed, to reduce uncertainty and to implement timely management measures sufficiently in advance to mitigate the likelihood of risks occurring and/or their potential impact on business objectives.

This certification helps to minimise the overall risks that can affect organisations, thereby ensuring sustainability and the achievement of their objectives. It also contributes to a company being better prepared to respond to situations of crisis, reducing the consequences and restoring normality to the main business activities in the shortest possible time.

AENOR highlights Indra's clear commitment to "integrating a risk management model based on a solid organisational structure and the distribution of risk management responsibilities throughout the organisation."

Indra's Risk Control and Management Model is constantly updated in accordance with the strictest national and international standards and its internal elements and regulations are constantly adapted to Indra's corporate processes and business areas.

This is a process promoted by the Board of Directors and Senior Management, whose responsibility falls on each and every member of the company.

Indra has a Risk Control and Management Policy that is complemented by policies and procedures aimed Indra's main processes, which are also reviewed and updated regularly to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and best practices.

The company currently has a 'Three Lines of Defence Model', formed by the operational management of the management team and all the professionals; Indra's internal control and risk management system; and the line formed of the Internal Audit department, which ensures the model's smooth operation, and by the Compliance Unit.

Indra has been working to improve its corporate governance and regulatory compliance since 2015. The company has achieved significant improvement in its Good Governance score on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World, in which it has been for 14 years. It has also obtained the highest score in corporate governance and anti-corruption in the latest edition of the FTSE4Good Sustainability Index.

The company has also been included as one of the leading sustainability companies in the world in "The Sustainability Yearbook 2020," the most important annual sustainability report on a global scale, which distinguishes Indra as one of the best positioned companies in its sector to face the economic, social and environmental challenges that will arise in the future.
