FCC Medio Ambiente, pioneer in obtaining the AENOR certification as a healthy organisation at all its delegations in Spain

04/09/2020

  • FCC Medio Ambiente, the first company in the sector to certify its Healthy Workplace Management System (SIGES) in 2013, is also a pioneer in migrating towards AENOR's new SIGOS (Healthy Organisation Management System) model for the whole of Spain.
  • The main objective as a Healthy Organisation is to promote people's health and well-being through specific policies aimed at promoting healthy work environments and increasing individuals' capacities to maintain and improve physical and emotional health and quality of life.

4 September 2020. AENOR this morning presented the certification for the Healthy Organisation Management System (SIGOS) to FCC Medio Ambiente, which was the first company in the sector to certify its Healthy Workplace Management System in 2013.

The broad scope of the certification covers practically all of FCC Medio Ambiente's activities within Spain. The company's specific health and welfare website SharePoint was used as a tool to support the implementation.

This distinction acknowledges all the initiatives the company is implementing with regard to occupational safety, the promotion of health, sustainability and social responsibility within the community in which it operates, demonstrating its commitment to continuous improvement. The SIGOS model constitutes a straightforward tool for application and integration, and one that is highly effective in managing safe, healthy, sustainable and committed companies, regardless of their size, sector and geographical location.

AENOR presented the certification at the FCC's corporate headquarters in Las Tablas (Madrid), and the event was presided over by Jordi Payet, Chief Executive Officer of FCC Medio Ambiente, and Rafael García Meiro, CEO of AENOR.

Jordi Payet emphasised that, for the company, the safety, health and well-being of employees and their families are fundamental values, and they directly affect the productivity and competitiveness of the organisation and, in turn, its sustainability. It is therefore essential to integrate these values effectively into management at all levels and areas of the organisation, and the support and certification provided by AENOR, in this case through the SIGOS system, is incomparable. The Chief Executive Officer wanted to thank everyone at FCC Medio Ambiente for their positive response and personal commitment to the success of the project, particularly relevant in the current circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For his part, Rafael García Meiro, stated that "the way an organisation relates to its employees now has a decisive influence on the trust it is capable of inspiring among its stakeholders. FCC Medio Ambiente is carrying out serious work, and with results, to implement an ambitious approach to the health of the people who make up its team, and it is doing so through successful multi-departmental collaboration. All that work was voluntarily submitted to an independent audit by AENOR, and the company has deservedly been awarded the Healthy Organisation Management System certificate".

Another advantage of the SIGOS accreditation is that it improves corporate image by projecting a safe, healthy and responsible organisation in which employees, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders can be involved, healthier, more motivated and satisfied, even making it a benchmark in the sector and within society, inspiring a sense of pride of belonging, and becoming a key source of talent capture and retention.
