Euskaltel, Telecable and R have been awarded AENOR certification for their anti-COVID-19 protocols

22/12/2020

  • This mark certifies that the various safety measures adopted by the companies of the Euskaltel Group since the start of the health crisis comply with the requirements and recommendations established by relevant health institutions.
  • AENOR has thus certified the effectiveness of the anti-COVID-19 measures taken in the offices of Euskaltel in Derio, of R in A Coruña, and of Telecable in Gijón, with the aim of creating safe working environments for their employees and partners.

22 December 2020. AENOR has recognised the anti-COVID-19 protocols deployed by Euskaltel, Telecable y R in all their work centres in Spain. This external endorsement confirms that the various safety measures adopted by the company since the start of the health crisis not only comply with the recommendations, but also with the requirements established periodically by relevant institutions with regard to prevention and hygiene.

AENOR has certified the effectiveness of the anti-COVID-19 measures undertaken to promote the health and safety of employees and partners at its three branches. As part of the certification process, AENOR assessed a wide range of aspects, including risk management and occupational health implemented by Lidl, including; the training, information and communication actions carried out; the organisational and protective measures put in place (control of capacity and soial distancing), use of PPE, etc., as well as good cleaning and hygiene practices.

"At Euskaltel we are more committed than ever to the safety and health of our people. From the outset we have acted with the utmost responsibility and prudence to protect the health of our workers and to ensure the continuity of our service. In this regard, AENOR certification is an important recognition of the efforts we have made in recent months to continue generating confidence, offering safe spaces and working environments and, at the same time, a demonstration of our desire for continuous improvement", said José Miguel García, CEO of the Euskaltel Group.

For her part, Luz Emparanza, AENOR's director in the Basque Country, stated that "the Euskaltel Group has obtained AENOR certification for the anti-COVID protocols adopted across its four sites after passing the audit carried out by our technicians. The constant evolution and adaptability of these protocols is of particular note, adapting both to legislative amendments and to the results of internal processes. All of this is intended to minimise internal risks of contagion for the well-being and health of workers."

Constant updating of safety protocols

From the first days of the pandemic and throughout the confinement period, as well as during subsequent stages in which the health authorities have established measures and public recommendations to undertake recovery and return to normal, a Monitoring, Safety and Health Committee, made up of all the areas represented in the three organisations, has updated safety protocols and kept all parties across the company informed.

With the premise of safeguarding the health and safety of all people, Euskaltel, Telecable and R have established protocols for necessary face-face activities ranging from the establishment of access to buildings only by certain doors, and staggered entrance by time slots, including the definition and implementation of measures to prevent contagion by aerosols, to signage indicating the compulsory use of face masks, social distancing, hand washing and the use of disinfectant gel.

Other measures have also been introduced, such as those relating to security for receiving and attending external visits, promoting remote meetings in order to avoid a concentration of people in closed spaces, and limiting strictly essential trips and travel.

The Euskaltel Group has been a benchmark in workplace safety measures during the pandemic. As such, from the outset of the health crisis, the group has established all measures necessary to guarantee the health of its people by mitigating the risk of exposure to the virus while ensuring the proper continuity of telecommunications services.

To this end, it has adopted various contingency measures for difficulties that COVID-19 could present in terms of communication between people, institutions and companies. These include teleworking and the continuity of telecommunications for homes and companies.
