13 December 2018. The Catalan educational centres Escola Virolai and Col.legi Badalonès have received the AENOR Healthy School certificates, making them the first schools to receive this recognition.
This certificate certifies that the schools comply with the AENOR Healthy School Model, developed by AENOR, Nútrim and Cualtis. It is the first of its kind and aims to promote healthy living among children, helping them to maintain and improve their health during their school years; this, in turn, will have a positive impact on their adult life.
Promoted by these three companies, with the collaboration of four Catalan schools, this Model lays down the requirements for developing a Healthy School Management System for educational centres that wish to protect and promote the health, safety and well-being of their students and their environment. Schools that meet the requirements of this Model can obtain the certificate certifying this to be the case.
The Healthy School Model is based on the structure of continuous improvement, which includes the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle, and it can be integrated into other Management Systems, such as the Quality Management System described in the standard UNE-EN ISO 9001.

Other Catalan educational centres have also collaborated in implementing this Model, namely Escola Virolai, Col.legi Badalonès, Escuela Dominiques de l’Ensenyament and Escuela Sant Josep Oriol.
