CaixaBank renews its EFQM 500+ European Seal of Excellence

  • The company has successfully passed the rigorous external evaluation process endorsed by AENOR and the Management Excellence Club (Club Excelencia en Gestión).
  • CaixaBank is currently the only Spanish bank with six business areas certified with the AENOR Conform stamp: Private Banking, Premier Banking, Individual Banking, Business Banking, International and Company Banking.
  • Thanks to its management model, CaixaBank has been declared 2018's European Excellence Ambassador by the Management Excellence Club.

20 December 2018. CaixaBank has been awarded the EFQM 500+ European Seal of Excellence with a rating above 650 points. The company has successfully passed the rigorous external evaluation process endorsed by AENOR and the Management Excellence Club (CEG - "Club Excelencia en Gestión"), thereby improving its previous rating. The bank has thus further strengthened its track record from 2012, after being first awarded the accreditation, which has been continuously renewed ever since. 

Gonzalo Gortázar, CaixaBank's CEO, and Bibiano Martínez, the General Business Division's Deputy Executive Director, were both present at the EFQM 500+ European Seal of Excellence award ceremony, the award being given by Rafael García Meiro, AENOR's CEO, and Ignacio Babé Romero, the Management Excellence Club's (CEG) General Secretary. 

Gonzalo Gortázar accordingly highlighted the seal's importance as proof of the financial company's implementation of a benchmark quality management model under international standards. In the very words of CaixaBank's CEO, "the EFQM 500+ European Seal of Excellence is a key tool to improve the organisation and this level of quality and excellence proves our firm commitment to management leadership and highest quality standards".

In turn, Bibiano Martínez explained that "an award such as the EFQM 500+ European Seal of Excellence is essential for an organisation like CaixaBank, which strives to meet customer needs in advance and understands digitisation as a way to speed up improvement in processes and services. The ultimate goal is to offer the best customer service, as outlined in CaixaBank's 2019-2021 Strategic Plan".

In Ignacio Babé's opinion, "Caixabank's commitment in 2012 to the EFQM Excellence Model, as a management model and tool for continuous improvement, has today been rewarded with the renewal of the 500+ Seal and a guaranteed rating of over 600 points. CaixaBank has successfully tackled the continuous changes that the banking sector has to face, thanks, among other reasons, to a firm commitment to risk management, the implementation of the Compliance model and value propositions focussed on different tier customers, guaranteeing continuous success over time".

According to Rafael García Meiro, "for any organisation with leadership aspirations, the confidence it inspires in its public is fundamental. In the financial business, this element is particularly relevant. CaixaBank is a worldwide benchmark, the implementation of its management systems and subsequent certification giving it part of its competitive edge. This company has made a firm commitment to the certification of business models in different market sectors, targetting the customer. Not to mention the fact that CaixaBank's fundamental values (quality, reliability and social commitment) form the basis of Integral Management Models".
