ALSA is to certify its anti-COVID-19 management protocols with AENOR

11/05/2020

  • Within its Alsa Movilidad Segura (safe mobility) plan, designed to offer travellers maximum confidence when travelling
  • It will be the first mobility operator to obtain this certification, which will demonstrate that the company is applying the appropriate protocols against the spread of COVID-19

11 May 2020. The mobility operator ALSA has reached an agreement with AENOR to certify the anti-COVID-19 management protocols that the company has implemented and that affect the transport services the company operates in Spain. ALSA will be the first company in the tourism sector to obtain this certificate.

This certification is part of the ALSA Safe Mobility plan, a complete programme designed by the operator to ensure that its services are operated with the highest hygiene and health guarantees. Its aim is to offer travellers optimum confidence when travelling and thus regain their mobility habits on public transport, a key aspect in this phase of confinement de-escalation in order to successfully manage a return to normality.

The ALSA anti-COVID-19 protocols to be certified by AENOR contemplate all the moments in which a traveller comes into contact with the company services before, during and after the end of his/her trip. This includes processes such as ticket sales, transit in stations and harbours, the vehicle boarding process, the distribution of passengers inside the bus, the air-conditioning and disinfection of vehicles, and measures for the protection of passengers and employees, among other aspects.

CERTIFICATION OF BEST PRACTICES AGAINST COVID-19

AENOR recently launched its Best Practices against COVID-19 certification, with which companies will be able to support their users, employees and customers that are implementing effective practices for managing the risks derived from COVID-19 within their facilities.

Within the certification process, AENOR will complement the anti-COVID-19 protocols established by ALSA with a guide that it has developed based on the recommendations and requirements of different national and international documents, issued by bodies such as the Ministry of Health or the National Institute of Occupational Health and Safety, along with other reference documents and success stories. Subsequently, it will certify its compliance.

AENOR will subject ALSA's services to an exhaustive audit both face-to-face and of its documents to ensure that the company is applying suitable protocols, and it will also be able to demonstrate to customers, employees and the general public its commitment to preventing the spread of the virus, and as part of ALSA's Safe Mobility Plan, a series of initiatives aimed at generating confidence among passengers when they are travelling.

AENOR's objective with this certification is to generate confidence among all groups; as it is a key aspect for the economic and social recovery of the effects of the coronavirus crisis. AENOR will certify the best practices in the management of COVID-19 related risks for all types of facilities and services, such as transport, industrial centres, shops, hotel or catering establishments, offices or social-health services.
