  • More than five hundred companies and nearly 177,000 agricultural producers will benefit from the agreement to carry out analyses of their products, whether they are destined for internal consumption or for export.

26 November 2020. AENOR has signed a collaboration agreement with the Agrobiotek food laboratory to offer a joint and comprehensive range of analysis services in the Dominican Republic.

The main beneficiaries of this agreement are the agro-industrial sector companies in the Dominican Republic formed by almost 600 companies that need to conduct analysis for internal consumption or for export, as well as the nearly 177,000 agricultural producers registered in the country that, in order to export their products mainly to the USA and Europe, also require the analysis of accredited laboratories such as the AENOR Laboratory, which has accreditation in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 17025 (ENAC) standard in all its testing.

With this agreement, Agrobiotek complements its offer of microbiological analysis in food and water, with the portfolio of the AENOR Laboratory: nutritional analysis of pesticide residues, residues of medicines or other contaminants such as mycotoxins or heavy metals. In addition, within the current AENOR Laboratory offer, coronavirus (SARS COV 2) tests are also performed using PCR on surfaces and water and the tests necessary for the certification of both hygienic and surgical masks.

AENOR issued its first certificate in the Dominican Republic in 1997 and opened its permanent headquarters in 2009, from where it offers certification and training services and also markets the management software Certool. Its growth in recent years has been constant: more than 125 certified work centres and 353 certification days in 2019. Recently, it also launched a new website in which the way of displaying the information has been improved and search engines have been added that allow the location of information related to AENOR's entire range of activities, from certification, to seminars, training courses, etc.
