16 October 2019. AENOR has awarded the ISO 45001 certification to the Mutua Universal Management and Occupational Health and Safety System, after the audit carried out to replace the previously obtained OHSAS 18001, regarding the prevention of risks associated with health and safety within the workplace. The new standard specifies the requirements to ensure that a rigorous health and safety policy is in place, by decreasing work-related risks and promoting the health and safety of employees.
The implementation and maintenance of the new Management System reinforces certain aspects with regard to the previous OHSAS. Firstly, it highlights the shared structure that facilitates the integration with the ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 14001: 2015 systems by providing a more efficient and less bureaucratic management system. Secondly, it gives importance to the development of the context, as well as to the leadership skills and commitment of Senior Management.
Among its benefits, the standard emphasizes the implication and participation of the organization with its workers, and is a commitment to a more effective risk management system, which takes into account the preventive culture in organizations, at all levels and in all hierarchies.
This ISO 45001 certification is a step further by Mutua Universal towards excellence and sustainability within the organization and it reflects the commitment of the Management, Prevention Service, Quality and Environment Services and all employees throughout these years.
