  • In this way, it becomes the first organization to adapt its AENOR certificate to the requirements of the latest version of the UNE standard 166002:2021 in the field of research, development and innovation.

19 July 2021. The Centre for Research and Technological Development TECNALIA has obtained AENOR the certification UNE 166002:2021, which certifies compliance with the requirements of the latest version of UNE standard 166002 for Management in its research, development and innovation processes.

This certification is an adaptation of the UNE 166002: 2014 certificate obtained in 2017. And in this way, TECNALIA becomes the first organization to adapt its AENOR certificate to the requirements of the standard's latest version. The 2021 version of the UNE 166002 standard published on 11 March has taken into account the new international trends reflected in the ISO 56002 international standard, and incorporates the international standard's eight principles of R&D&I; knowledge generation (research) and realisation of value (innovation); future-focused leaders; strategic direction; culture; exploiting insights; managing uncertainty adaptable structures; and systems approach.

According to TECNALIA's managing director, Jesús Valero, 'the principle that has inspired our own R&D&I management system the most has been the creation of knowledge and the achievement value, as it is an inherent part of our mission - as a technology centre of the Basque Network of Science and Technology - to transform technology into GDP. For TECNALIA, this certificate means recognition of our efforts to adapt to the new ISO 56000 international standards in research, development and innovation in all of our R&D&I processes.'

Luz Emparanza, AENOR's Basque Country director, emphasized that 'once again, TECNALIA is a pioneer in adapting the requirements of the UNE 166002 standard, and will be the first organization that AENOR certifies with this new version of the standard.'
