AENOR certifies the environmental management system of the Villanubla Air Base

03/10/2019

3 October 2019. AENOR awarded the UNE-EN ISO 14001 certification for environmental management systems to the Villanubla Air Base (Valladolid), certifying that the organisation complies with the requirements established by this international standard.

The ISO 14001 Standard is the most widespread environmental management tool in the world, and in Spain, the Air Force is the first NATO Army to certify an Environmental Management System that encompasses its sites and activities.

The certificate, which was presented by Inmaculada García Garrigés, Director of the AENOR Branch in Castile and León, to Colonel Félix Manjon Martín, Head of the air base, accredits that it complies with the requirements established in UNE-EN ISO 14001, having implemented an environmental management system that helps to prevent environmental impacts, using the means necessary to prevent, reduce or control them, but always in balance with socio-economic rationality and committed to continuous improvement.

AENOR assessed the compliance of this certification process in all the Unit's activities and departments, such as Air Operations and support, aircraft maintenance, vehicles, telecommunication systems and infrastructures, as well as sports activities.

During the ceremony, Colonel Manjon gave an exhibition of the work carried out during these years, until obtaining this certification, as well as a visit of the Unit's facilities where the AENOR Manager in Castile and León was able to verify the effort made by all the staff at the Base to achieve this new challenge.
