Management of supply chain security (ISO 28000)

Reducing risks for people and products in the supply chain

The objective of the Standard ISO 28000:2008 is to improve safety in the supply chain through risk analysis and appropriate response planning.

Therefore, the organisation is required to assess its security environment to determine whether it is implementing the appropriate safety measures and if there are other existing statutory requirements fulfilled by the organisation.

Benefits for your company:

  • Improved monitoring of the flow of merchandise.
  • Improved performance of the supply chain.
  • Compliance with legislation.
  • It helps an organisation to be recognised as an AEO (Authorised Economic Operator), established in the framework of the Customs Organisation, according to Regulation 648/2005.

Benefits for your clients:

  • The company's credibility and image are improved if it fights smuggling, theft and the deterioration of goods.
  • Improved speed of response to emergency situations.

Benefits related to society:

  • It facilitates cross-border trade and freight transport.
  • Demonstrating compliance with requirements to authorities.

ISO 28000is a general standard that is applicable to companies of any size, including manufacturers, exporters, importers, freight forwarders, storage companies, customs representatives, air, rail, road and sea transport companies in any phase of the production or supply process, and practically the entire supply chain that comes into contact with the product up to the final consumer.

Due to its structure, based on risk management, the certification ISO 28000 can be easily integrated into any process management system, such as ISO 9001, ISO14001, UNE-ISO/IEC27001.

Once Audit process has been completed, if the implemented system meets the requirements of the standard ISO 28000 Specification for security management systems for the supply chain, the organisation obtains:

  • The AENOR Supply Chain Security Certificate
  • A user licence for the AENOR Supply Chain Security mark

Furthermore, organisations with management systems certified by AENOR have free access to the AENORnet and a subscription to the AENOR monthly magazine.
