AENOR has developed the circular economy strategy management model to provide organisations with a certification reference to determine the relevance of aspects of circular economy that need addressing, thus enabling them to take that path and determine which international circular economy principles are being contributed to.
AENOR has been developing different certification solutions since 2015 that help organisations to undertake specific actions, both in the sphere of prevention/innovation and in the field of resource management.
Administrations and other social agents have sent out an important message, which is that in order to obtain funds for the post-covid recovery, the sustainability criteria that have been incorporated into business strategies and/or products and services provided, such as carbon neutrality and, in particular, the circular economy, must be demonstrated.
The model is based on the following pillars:
We are increasingly encountering different agents who come to the same conclusion within the framework of the commitments of the circular economy. For example, plastic waste from a supermarket chain that is recycled by a manager and made available to consumers as a bag made by a manufacturer using that recovered material.
This certification highlights the real and effective execution of these business projects or new joint business models, as well as the achievements made. It is applicable to all types of projects that are carried out by an organization of any size and activity, and that manage the different resources (raw materials, waste, water or energy) within the framework of its circular commitments.
This model is applicable to organisations of any sector and size. AENOR offers conditions that are adapted to the size and needs of each organisation.
Scope of prevention/innovation:
Ecodesign ISO 14006,
Environmental product declarations (EPD),
End to waste status,
ISO 50001 Energy management, Recovered raw material content or recycled plastics traceability.
AENOR Zero Waste Model, End to waste status, Water footprint, ISO 50001 Energy management, Recovered raw material content or recycled plastics traceability.
After verifying the information that exists based on the requirements of the AENOR Model, the organisation obtains:
