The main value of an electrical product certified with the AENOR N mark is the trust it builds among consumers as well as product distributors, being of extraordinary relevance to both. As all electrical devices carry a risk, the certification of electrical materials is the best way of guaranteeing their safety and proper functioning.
Certification with the AENOR N Mark ensures that these risks are kept to a minimum, because in order to obtain it, electrical products and equipment are required to pass strict controls in factory production processes. In addition to these tests, certified products are regularly monitored by inspectors from AENOR or other authorized entities who assess random samples and carry out testing.
The main manufacturers in the sector trust the AENOR N Mark to certify electrical safety. The mark adds value to their electrical products, and they readily allocate the necessary resources required to obtain it, as it is not only a tool to facilitate access to different domestic and overseas markets, but it guarantees that their materials are manufactured in accordance with the applicable regulations.
AENOR solutions in the certification of electrical products and equipment:
Switchgear covered by the certification:
AENOR's N mark for switchgear and small electrical equipment certifies compliance with electrical safety standards and adds value to the products. This differentiating factor helps consumers with their choice of products and also allows manufacturers to introduce their products into multiple and demanding markets, both in Spain and abroad.
For the certification of these products, AENOR is accredited by the Spanish National Accreditation Body (ENAC) with accreditation no. 1/C-PR275.
The AENOR N Mark for lighting fixtures, associated electrical and electronic equipment, and AC motor capacitors guarantees the high-quality standard of these products, mainly for electrical safety.
AENOR is accredited by the Spanish Accreditation Body (ENAC) with accreditation nº 1/C-PR275 for the certification of lighting and associated equipment.
Once the AENOR N Mark has been acquired, as a signatory of the CENELEC Certification Agreement (CCA), AENOR can issue the Notification of Test Results (NTR) to acquire the marks of other signatory bodies such as the IMQ (Italy), VDE (Germany), LCIE (France), etc. The AENOR N mark is also related to CB certifications (under IEC standards).
The ENEC Mark is a common European mark developed by CENELEC and accepted across Europe. This is a mark that conforms to general European Standards for verifying electricity safety, a symbol of a product's quality and safety, and is accredited by an independent third party, such as AENOR, a leading certification body. With more than 17,000 issued certificates, the ENEC Mark is recognised by public and private companies, making commercialisation possible throughout a large part of the world.
For the ENEC certification, the manufacturer voluntarily submits its product to a complete examination by independent specialist organisations with the goal of objectively ensuring that the product meets the established quality requirements: compliance with corresponding standards and periodic inspections of production centres.
AENOR has accreditation from the Spanish Accreditation Body (ENAC) to certify in accordance with European standards applicable to electrical and electronic products, defined in its scope of accreditation. Moreover, AENOR is also authorized to issue certificates under the ENEC mark for this equipment, and their requirements cover other European marks of quality, whilst conforming with those of other certifications around the world.
The AENOR N Mark for lighting, as with the ENEC Mark, is a guarantee of CE mark compliance, in this case regarding electrical safety. Both certifications are benchmarks for prestigious products and companies.
Covered lighting and electrical equipment:
The AENOR N Mark for low voltage electric wires certifies product compliance with electrical safety standards
The certification of cables with the AENOR Mark <HAR> is carried out according to the common European agreement for certifying Harmonized Electrical Cables (HAR Agreement), signed by AENOR, a common European standard for insulated cables in conformity with European Standards or Harmonization documents. This certification, issued by AENOR, is recognized as proprietary by the other signatory bodies; there are currently 18 countries that have signed the HAR agreement.
AENOR's <HAR> Mark logo is recognised by public and private customers, promoting commercialisation in Europe. The certification is not mandatory; but rather the manufacturer voluntarily undergoes a complete examination of its product by independent entities and specialists, with the aim of objectively determining that their product meets the established quality and safety requirements.
Any product that has been granted this mark is subject to different assessments and controls to ensure its compliance with corresponding standards and with the specific certification system common to all bodies within the HAR agreement.
The AENOR <HAR> Mark is applicable to insulated cables and, according to the standards, the name of all harmonized cables begins with the letter H: EN 50525 (series), EN 50143, EN 50214, EN 60702, EN 61138 and EN 50618.
For the certification of these products, AENOR is accredited by the Spanish Accreditation Body (ENAC) with accreditation no. 1/C-PR275.
Electrical wires covered:
Electric cables, telecommunication cables, wires for electromagnetic coils and accessories:
Bare conductors and electrical cables for electrical power transmission and distribution and their accessories:
The AENOR Mark The N mark ofelectrical installations provides added value to structural elements used to transport and distribute electricity. It is a certification recognized by electrical companies, and is also internationally recognized.
AENOR certifies compliance with the requirements established in OP operating procedure 12.3 and Royal Decrees: 1565/2010 and 661/2007 for photovoltaic conversion electrical installations. Prior to issuing the Certificate of Compliance these installations, AENOR verifies compliance with the requirements applicable for the quality of electricity supply in the system sourced from solar energy.
Thus, its holder accredits the correct execution and compliance with the requirements set forth in the regulations in force, such as operation procedure O.P.12.3 Requirements for responding to voltage dips and applicable Royal Decrees:
For these purposes, when certifying photovoltaic conversion systems, a Notified Body such as AENOR is required to certify the electrical installation. This is mandatory for installations with a production greater than 2 MW. AENOR certifications of the photovoltaic installation's handling of voltage dips require regular five-year monitoring, in accordance with requirements detailed in the OP 12.3.
The purpose of the certifying the capacity of photovoltaic and wind power installations to deal with voltage dips is to check for compliance with the legislation and contribute to stabilizing the electricity system.
Thus, AENOR certifiesthe capacity of power generation facilities that use photovoltaic energy and wind power as their exclusive source of primary energy (group b.1.1 in Royal Decree 661/2007) to remain linked to the electricity grid, without becoming disconnected in the event of dips in voltage directly associated with correctly offset short circuits that may arise in the electricity system.
To certify this, AENOR is accredited by the Spanish Accreditation Body (ENAC) (01/C-PR130).
Electrical installations covered:
1. Structural elements for electrical power transmission and distribution
2. Systems for the photovoltaic conversion of solar energy

"Since its foundation, ELT has been firmly committed to guaranteeing the quality of our product. That is why we believe in the value of product certification and in particular the N and ENEC marks, because of the confidence they generate in our external and internal customers. AENOR regularly inspects manufacturing to ensure that the requirements specified in the mark's regulations and in international standards are met. This creates a lot of prestige and independence externally. Internally, the maintenance of product certification and the AENOR inspection visits are seen as a clear opportunity for the continuous improvement of our processes, thanks to the constructive critical eye of AENOR technicians who know our company in depth. In summary, AENOR's N certification and the ENEC mark are added value for ELT, as they allow access to the markets for companies that, like ELT, have an interest in export. "
