AENOR and agro sustainability within the framework of the SDGs: Sustainable Crop Production Certification

Agrosustainability, or the production of sustainable crops, is a real demand of consumers and society and an opportunity for food organizations and their brands to establish new links with consumers based on values that are consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda.

We certify sustainable cultivation within the framework of the European Green Deal.

The AENOR Sustainable Crop Production Certification is based on agroecology and is fully aligned with Europe's strategy to comply with the 2030 Agenda through the European Green Deal and the "farm to table" strategy, whose goal is to achieve a fair, healthy and balanced food system.

Our purpose is to offer a tool to producers and industries to provide healthy foods with a production system that maintains productivity, increases soil fertility and biodiversity, and reduces<span class="chino"> the environmental footprint of their activity.

Certification of sustainable crop production and its contribution to the SDGs

In relation to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, sustainable production practices are certified that comply with SDG 2, on the fight against hunger; with SDG 12, by guaranteeing more sustainable crop production systems and the preservation of these values all the way to the consumer; as well as with SDG 13, by adopting best farming practices that fight climate change and its effects.

Benefits of sustainable crops certified by AENOR

The "Sustainable Crop Production" certification solution has been designed as a dynamic model, applicable to com<span class="chino">panies that participate in the food chain, from agricultural crop production to distribution.

This certification model helps organizations to implement:

  • The responsible and efficient use of natural resources to avoid over-production, and its direct impact on crops.
  • Biodiversity in flora and fauna to achieve a balance in the production ecosystem.
  • A reduction in fertilizer use, lowering costs and, in some cases, preventing negative health impacts.
  • Minimal cultivation practices that prevent soil erosion and improve its structure.
  • The application of good social practices throughout the production and supply chain.
  • Its contribution to Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 2, SDG 12 and SDG 13.
