Milk is an important source of proteins, including beta-casein. Depending on the genetics of cows that produce the milk, these proteins can be of two types: A1 or A2.
Milk with A2 beta-casein proteins comes from cows that, due to their genetics, only produce this type of protein. Recent studies have shown that A2 beta-casein makes milk, as well as the dairy products containing it, more digestible.
To offer the consumer a differentiated product, it is necessary to make a natural selection of the animals on the farm and to ensure that the milk that arrives at the point of sale is only A2 beta-casein.
The A2 Beta-Casein Milk certification ensures that the product has been obtained naturally on the farm, as well as its traceability up to the point of sale, throughout the entire supply chain. In the case of dairy products made from milk with this certification, they can use the label "Made with A2 Beta-Casein". Thanks to this certification, consumers have access to a series of products of excellent, easily digestible and quality products that can be fully traced from the source.
During the audit process, the audit team is responsible for carefully assessing the conformity of the aspects defined in the regulation. These include verifying the correct selection process for livestock and performing genetic analyses, ensuring that the milk produced is A2. The assessments include taking milk samples for laboratory analysis to verify whether it is 100% A2 Beta-Casein milk.
