CE mark for machines

Access to the European machinery market

Acceso to the European Machinery Market

In the European Union and in the European Economic Area, the sale of machines and their safety components must meet the technical criteria established in Directive 2006/42/EC. These criteria apply to manufacturers of machines and their safety components, or the authorised representatives, importers, etc. who are responsible for compliance with the requirements

The CE Mark and the CE Declaration of Conformity ensure the free flow of products in the European Market. The commercialisation of machines and their safety components may require a notified body such as AENOR that issues an EC Type Examination certificate, as per Annex IX, or certifies the total quality assurance (design, manufacture, final inspection and testing), as per Annex X of the Directive.

AENOR is notified by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism

For manufacturers of machines and safety components, the CE mark and the CE Declaration of Conformity allows for unrestricted access to the European Market, avoiding technical barriers. What's more, the CE Mark is recognised in other markets globally.

The CE Mark ensures consumers that the product will not compromise their safety and guarantees certain common safety standards in Europe.

The certification schemes are outlined in Directive 2006/42/EC.

With regard to AENOR's activity, it focuses on assessing Annexes IX and X.

In the case of the Annex X, Total Quality Assurance, the documentary assessment, inspection visits and audits are easily integrated with the auditing process of ISO 9001 management systems.
