AENOR N Mark for sanitary plumbing

The AENOR N Mark for plumbing fixtures certifies that these products comply with Spanish and European standards, and with AENOR regulations.

The AENOR Mark is the alternative to the certification for plumbing fixtures, which is also offered by AENOR independently.

Certificate for plumbing fixtures: an alternative to approval

Royal Decree 358/1985 of 23 January, establishes the compliance with technical standards for plumbing fixtures for use in personal hygiene facilities, kitchens and laundry areas, and their approval by the Ministry of Industry and Energy stipulates the mandatory compliance of plumbing fixtures with the technical standards.

The certification of conformity with standards established by the AENOR Mark for plumbing fixtures has the same value as the approval. It is an alternative recognised by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism.

Technical Building Code (CTE) and regulatory framework

Royal Decree 314/2006 of 17 March approves the Technical Building Code (CTE) and provides the regulatory framework laying out the requirements that must be met by buildings in terms of basic safety and habitability aspects, set out in Act 38/1999 of 5 November, on Building Standards (LOE).

The AENOR N Mark is recognized by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport as a Technical Building Code quality standard. This recognition means that the government is confident in products certified with the AENOR N Mark, and deems that the use of these products in buildings contributes to compliance with the basic requirements set forth in the legislation.

The N Mark for sanitary tapware covers the following products:

The use of products bearing the AENOR N Mark benefits all the agents involved in building construction.

Another stakeholder that benefits from the AENOR N Mark is that of inspectors, as

  • Guarantee that the product has previously been verified in order to determine compliance with the minimum requirements of basic CTE documents

The end user benefits from:

  • A dwelling built using materials of proven quality
