Certification of products of animal origin for export

Guarantee and assurance in the export of products of animal origin

Facilities that manufacture products of animal origin and foods that contain such elements must have certification for a Specific In-house Monitoring System based on the provisions of Royal Decree 993/2014 if they wish to export their products to the following non-European Union environment:

1. Countries with Animal Health and/or Public Health requirements that differ from those established by the European Union

2. Countries with requirements that differ from those established in the European Union that require the existence of lists of specific establishments.

3. Suppliers of Facilities that Export to Third Countries

Audits are performed in order to verify that the different non-European Union requirements have been implemented and to check that the specific in-house monitoring system performs as intended. This is done by carrying out traceability exercises on the items to be exported.

If you are also an exporter of agri-food products, you must know the Food Safety Modernization Act 2016 (FSMA), drawn up by the US FDA, which seeks to improve food safety in particular in foodstuffs from third countries. This law establishes the requirements for the export of agri-food products destined for the United States, while also facilitating companies' consolidation in the American market.

This certification is intended for establishments involved in the production and export of animal-based products intended for human consumption or for food that contain them, in countries with requirements that differ from those of the European Union.

As the structure of this certification is based on traceability, it can be easily integrated into any other system that contains this aspect within its processes. It is an accredited certification based on Standard UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17065 (BRC, IFS, Iberian pig quality standard, ETG Serrano ham, etc.)

AENOR has certified approximately one hundred companies from all industries within the food of animal origin field.
