AENOR, as a conformity assessment body, is a leader in the certification of products. With over 100,000 certified items in over 40 countries, the AENOR N Mark is among the top five product quality marks in the world.

The AENOR N Mark is a voluntary mark that allows the company to demonstrate that their product meets certain provisions established in a UNE, EN or ISO standard, or in a technical specification. This demonstration of compliance during the manufacturing and testing of the final products, based on a rigorous control performed by AENOR, will allow licensees of the Mark to put their products on the market with a high standard of quality, instilling confidence in the users of these certified products.

This way, the AENOR N Mark can provide the following advantages:

The manufacturer

  • Affords greater knowledge of the product via the exhaustive control set forth by the N Mark
  • Products that do not comply with relevant standards or regulations can be detected before they enter the market
  • Lowers the production costs since there is greater control during the manufacturing process.
  • There are commercial grounds to introduce the product into new markets and facilitate access to works

Business providers and monitoring agents

  • Guarantees that the product has undergone prior verification to determine its compliance with minimum requirements
  • Products with long-lasting confidence. Product assessments are ongoing, guaranteeing compliance with the initial certified provisions

Public Administrations

  • Guarantees that the prescribed product will comply with the applicable statutory requirements
  • Transparency of the AENOR certification process.
  • Balance of partes stakeholders in the decisions on certified products

The end user

  • Confidence from knowing that the product has undergone prior verification
  • Credibility, the product is assessed by a recognised certification company

Certification of plaster and fine plaster comprises two clearly differentiated stages. In the first phase, certification applicants must implement a documentation system based on ISO 9001. At the same time, they must control the products and measurement equipment as set out in the certification regulations.

Subsequently, AENOR's Technical Services visit the production facility to verify that it meets the requirements of the certification document. During each visit, samples will be taken of the models to be certified, and then sent to one of the laboratories accredited by the Spanish National Accreditation Body (ENAC), which collaborates with AENOR in the certification process.

Once all of the results have been received, the Technical and Business Association of Gypsum (ATEDY), acting as Secretary of the Technical Certification Committee, presents a confidential report of all the activities, which is then evaluated by the Committee.

If the decision is satisfactory, AENOR will be recommended to grant the certificate. Alternatively, the applicant will be informed of the reasons for refusal and specific complementary activities that need to be carried out.

After issuance of the certificate, the company progresses to the certification monitoring phase. During this stage, AENOR's Services make twice-yearly visits to the manufacturing facilities to verify that the criteria and requirements established in the certification regulations are being applied and maintained. During these visits, samples of the certified models will be taken for testing in the accredited laboratory.

On a weekly basis, the Office prepares a report on all the activities performed that is submitted to the Committee, which decides, based on the results obtained, whether or not certification can remain in effect or if it is necessary to perform extraordinary activities.

Once the certification process has been completed, the organisation obtains:

  • AENOR product certificate
  • A licence to use AENOR's Mark of a certified product, in accordance with the provisions of AENOR regulations
