The IATF Standard16949 establishes the specific requirements for implementing the Standard ISO 9001 for the mass production of original and replacement parts in the automotive industry. This certification is a necessary requirement for any supplier that supplies directly to manufactures and, depending on the clients' contractual requirements, is also necessary for lower-level suppliers.
The main goal of Standard IATF 16949 is ongoing improvement, putting emphasis on the prevention of defects and waste in the supply chain. For this reason, the standard ensures that the car's parts, pieces and safety systems meet the requirements specified by the clients, as well as by the applicable regulations. On the other hand, this standard promotes ongoing improvement of the products at better prices, as well as research and development of new components that improve the safety of the vehicle and its surroundings.
