Las Product Category Rules (PCR) are an essential document for elaborating and verifying Environmental product declarations (EPD) conforme a la Norma Internacional ISO 14025. These regulations, which establish the criteria for elaborating Life-cycle assessments (LCA), can be issued as national, European or international standards, or as a recognised Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

If there are no specific product category rules (PCR) for a sector, AENOR creates representative sectorial panels formed by the industry (sectorial associations, manufacturers or product customers, etc.), laboratories, Public Administrations and other stakeholders.

The panels present a PCR proposal that is subject to public enquiry on AENOR's website, followed by approval within the GlobalEPD Programme. The work methodology of the sectorial panels is defined in the General Rules of the GlobalEPD Programme.

In the food industry, AENOR has set up the panel on nuts.

In the sectors outside of construction and civil works or food production, AENOR has created the panel forfurniture.
